FAU Davie University/College Library: Serving FAU and Broward College Since 1991
by Roberto Santiago & Alberto Fernandez | Wednesday, Sep 01, 2021FAU Libraries is a comprehensive system and academic resource that serves over 30,000 students, faculty and staff with libraries on multiple FAU campuses. In addition to the S.E. Wimberly Library on our main campus in Boca Raton, the Davie campus is home to the University/College Library (UCL), a four-story building that, since 1991, has served as a joint-use facility for all students, faculty, and staff of Florida Atlantic University and Broward College. The facility includes study rooms, interlibrary loan services, an FAU-ONLY computer lab and a Dunkin Donuts. The original library was built in 1963, expanded in 1968, and remodeled in 1996 into its current structure.
"Broward College and Florida Atlantic University’s library partnership has prepared students for future career opportunities through library instruction and resource sharing," said Dr. Monique Blake, Dean, Libraries and Academic Success Centers. "In addition, this library partnership provides students with access, innovation, and research skills for life which will improve the community."
To borrow materials from the library FAU students, faculty and staff can use their OWL identification card. Books may be checked-out at the check-out desk or books can be placed on hold through our online catalog and picked up at the library. Patrons can visit the library seven days a week. The hours are: Monday to Thursday. 7:30 am – 10 pm; Friday 7:30 am – 5 pm, Saturday 9 am – 5pm and Sunday 2 pm – 10 pm. Additionally, students can schedule in-person or remote research appointments with a librarian and faculty can schedule in-person or remote information Literacy Sessions for their classes.
The Davie Library Open Computer Lab is located on the first floor of the library in room 104. This computer lab contains 21 Windows computers and 4 iMacs, as well as a pay-per-print system. All the computers are connected to the campus network and have full access to the Internet.
This open lab is available to all FAU students, and allows them to complete class assignments, conduct research, and perform any other FAU-related academic work.
"The University/College Library Interlibrary Loan services enables anyone to request and receive any article, dissertation, movie, book, chapters of a book, or text books, that they need and they will receive it here at the UCL at no cost, "said Grushenska Elusta, Lead Specialist, Interlibrary Loan. "They can make their requests online at http://libguides.broward.edu/ill or by e-mailing us directly at gelusta@broward.edu."
